How I Found My New Favorite Thrifted Mom Jeans in the Mens Section

I’ve been in the market for an awesome pair of #momjeans but surprisingly had the hardest time sourcing a pair. Nothing fit me in the women’s section and I almost gave up until I hopped on over to the men’s side and BAM 💥

I came across these light wash relaxed denim by Eddie Bauer & I knew they were made just for me! The trick is to find jeans that are labeled relax / loose fit & tapered leg for it to appropriately accentuate the ‘assets’ … if ya know what I mean.

Oh and this rich tee is also from the men’s section at Forever 21! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Any guesses for how much I spent on this outfit from The Salvation Army?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My #1 Pro Tip when Shopping Secondhand! Learn How I Scored My Favorite Wardrobe Pieces

Shopping at the thrift store can be overwhelming and it’s hard to decide where to start first. With so many options for clothing, accessories, jewelry, shoes, home décor it’s hard to know where to begin looking!

As a seasoned thrifter, I can still relate to this feeling new or casual thrifters may experience. I tend to get overwhelmed when I am shopping at a new store and not sure of how the layout works and what the culture of the shoppers is like.

Whatever the case may be, I have stuck with one sold tried and true tip when it comes to thrift shopping. and that is to make sure you shop the entire store! Now, if time is not on your side or you’re tired, hungry, or just not feeling it that day- then this tip may be a hard one to follow through. But, if you can counter those feelings by preparing ahead of time, shopping all corners of the store, while sometimes tedious, have delivered amazing results during many trips without fail!

How does shopping the entire store work for you? You might be skeptical as to why this is my favorite tip but, you might be surprised to know that about 50% of my favorite finds were discovered in sections where I least expected them. I typically wear a size M-L top, size 8 dress, and size 30 jeans. But, one of my recent finds, a organic cotton J. Jill button up floral top (pictured) was found in a size I would never typically to shop from.

This top is actually a size 1X. Yes! But, looking at how I styled it, you probably would never have thought of that right? And furthermore, you would never expect me to find something in that size that looks good on someone with my physique. With that said, you might wonder how many items YOU have passed up simply because you limited yourself to specific sections of the store.

What you need to understand is that the fun found from thrifting comes not only with shopping discounted prices but, also finding hidden gems in all corners of the store. I’ve found my favorite pair of Chuck Taylors in the men’s section and some unique tee shirts in the boy’s section simply because I looked for them and stretched the boarders of my imagination on how to incorporate them into  my wardrobe.

The next time you are out shopping try wandering over to the men’s section and browsing for a bit. My recommendations are to shop outerwear (jackets), sweaters, tees and shoes first. They are usually easier to style and are for the most part, unisex!

Good Luck,

Danielle

How to Earn $800 by Reselling Clothing Online: My October Reselling Sales Report!

As we wind-down the month of October and prepare for November, I would like to share my sales over the last month with you all. Similar to my previous post recapping the month of September, I will list items by brands that sold and the profits I took from it!

Between both platforms in the month of September I made just under $800 net (after fee’s taken from platforms & shipping) selling items from my personal wardrobe and from sourcing at my local thrift stores! Compare best practices on how to prepare your wardrobe for the upcoming winter season!

What You Need to Slay the Summer to Fall Transition: Wardrobe Pieces that are Every Woman’s Must Have this Year!

Soooooooooooo this year so far has been like…

J A N U A R YYY

F E B R U R Y

M A R C H

APRIL

MAYYJUNEJULY

AUGGUSTTTTTTTTTTTT

…and now we are at the end September! Phew! I don’t know how we got here so quickly, but what I do know is that I am ready for FALL! While fall is hands down my favorite time of the year mainly due to the combination of the trees changing colors, how the sun peeks through the sunny cool skies, the togetherness of friends and family on a hike or to an adventure to the pumpkin patch. And as the perfect bonus, there is always beautiful fashion that comes from this season!

As you may have noticed, Starbucks has already reinstated their pumpkin spice lattes (eww) and I’ve noticed a few stores break out the Halloween décor and candy (FYI Halloween is also my favorite holiday!)

And while this fall is a bit more special to me [I’ll be turning 30] I always find  myself stuck in a weird paradox with my wardrobe, and I’m sure the rest of you can identify with this. You step out in the morning and there is a cool crispy start at about 60 degrees and by the time you leave at the end of the day it’s back up to 85 degrees and you JUST.CANT.

What are you to do? Well the best solution is to dress with transition pieces that can balance to what mother nature is doing outside during these awkward months until there’s a consistent weather forecast. In preparation for this, I’ve taken a look into my current wardrobe in combination with inspiration taken from Pinterest to bring you some ideas on how to make your wardrobe cozy through this transition season!

Each item has a link for you to shop! Let me know what are some of your favorites!

  1. Eyelet Detail Cropped Jumpers
  2. Lightweight Scarfs to wrap around your neck while its chilly and to later be used to hold back your hair in the afternoon
  3. Laser cut oxfords/loafer shoes. A 2-for- one combo. These will allow your feet to breathe, but also give you the coverage you need from soaking your toes in any unexpected wetness
  4. Faux Leather Satchel, backpack or hobo purse. Perfect outfit accessory and the best place to store you chunky sweater that you no longer need on your way during your evening commute
  5. Vegan Leather Embroidered Moto Jackets
  6. Silk Button Up Shirt. Provides the perfect coverage in the workplace and will help wick sweat in the warm afternoon through this breathable fabric. Bonus: This sustainable fabric will last you multiple seasons!

I update my Pinterest boards  everyday with some of my favorite things, so be sure to follow along! Also don’t forget to shop my Poshmark Closet for awesome steals on some georges pieces to add to your closet this season!

Good Luck,

Danielle
